We are looking for Senior UI/UX Designer for a Fintex Inc. is the brainchild of a group of seasoned entrepreneurs who envisioned partnering with wealth management firms to harness technology for tackling business challenges. Their leadership boasts a rich tapestry of experiences, including ideation, building, and launching intricate digital capabilities within Canada's premier financial institutions.

As they charter new territories in the digital domain, they are on the lookout for dynamic individuals who resonate with their vision and are eager to shape the future of the wealth and asset management industry.

Who We’re Looking For

Senior UI/UX Designers collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to craft innovative and user-centric digital experiences. They operate independently, presenting design concepts to stakeholders, offering mentorship to junior designers, and maintaining a strong understanding of the technical aspects of UI/UX design. He/she will also be accountable for ensuring the timely delivery of projects while upholding design quality and consistency.

Skills and Experience

  • A portfolio showcasing web and mobile application design with a focus on creating user-friendly interfaces.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing across multiple platforms (web, mobile, etc.).
  • Proven experience in an applied research setting, integrating user research into product designs and practices.
  • Strong ability to articulate design strategies, rationales, and logic, including highlighting risks and benefits of design decisions.
  • Expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma and UserTesting.com.
  • In-depth knowledge of interaction design theory, visual design principles, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Strategy

  • Understand user interface patterns and behaviors to enhance user comprehension an improve task efficiency.
  • Lead design critiques, ensuring inclusivity in interactions, while providing expert advice to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and lead ideation sessions and collaborative work activities to drive creative and innovative solutions.
  • Serve as the interaction design subject-matter expert, mentoring other designers and guiding the product design team.

UI/UX Design

  • Apply a thorough understanding of interaction design theory, visual design principles, and research data to inform and guide design decisions.
  • Create low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas.
  • Develop detailed prototypes with clear specifications for development teams to execute.
  • Present design solutions to senior stakeholders for feedback and approval, ensuring alignment with both business goals and user needs.

Research and Testing

  • Facilitate usability testing sessions to gather actionable feedback and iterate on designs.
  • Lead or participate in research activities to inform design decisions and ensure solutions are data-driven.
  • Conduct competitive audits and research, particularly within the financial services sector, aligning outcomes with design and business objectives.
  • Perform pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits to ensure design consistency and quality across all products.

Nice to Have

  • Strong understanding of research methods, including when and how to apply them at different phases of the product development cycle.
  • An appreciation for the role of Design Thinking in driving innovation and user-centric solutions.
  • Experience working within the financial services sector or with data-heavy applications.
