Telegram hacks for recruiters

Do you use Telegram to communicate with candidates?

Recently, we conducted a survey on our Instagram page (the screenshot of the survey results is attached below), asking our colleagues which channels (besides LinkedIn) they most often use for communication with candidates, and almost everyone replied - Telegram.

That's why we decided to share with you some Telegram tips and tricks that we actively use ourselves. Perhaps they will come in handy for you too.

  • You can send messages to yourself. Agree, this is very convenient! If you have an idea for a message to a candidate but are not entirely sure who to send it to or haven't finalized the text yet, simply enter the phrase "Saved Messages" in the search bar, and voila! Done! To forward a message to yourself from another chat, select the "Forward" option by tapping on the message you want to send and choose "Saved Messages" from the list of recipients. Now you know how to send messages directly to yourself, not to friends/siblings, adding the "It's me! It's for me!" touch :)

  • Folders. You can create folders and name them as you like, for example, by job position. Add conversations with candidates for these positions to the respective folders. Convenient, isn't it? Now you won't have to scroll through all your conversations in search of the right one because you can see it immediately in the folder.

  • Send messages at a convenient time! Yes, you can schedule messages for a specific time that you can set yourself. For example, you found a suitable candidate late at night and want to message them right away, but the timing isn't ideal? No problem! Press the "up" arrow when sending the message, and you'll see a window where you can click "Schedule Message" and choose the desired time!

  • How to read a message without actually reading it? Do you ever receive a message that you really want to read but don't want the sender (e.g., a candidate) to see that you've read it? Don't worry; there's a way out! Just tap and hold the chat with that message, and you'll see a window with the messages in that conversation. You can simply take a look at what you've been sent. In this case, your conversation partner won't know that you've already seen all the messages.

  • And, of course, important conversations can always be pinned at the top. If you have conversations with candidates that you want to see immediately when you open Telegram, use this option. To do this, simply tap on the chat, hold it for a few seconds, and select the "Pin" icon. If the pinned conversations are no longer relevant, you can easily unpin them.
