Matic is looking for a Lead Ruby Engineer to join our Platform Product.
The platform is a smart system that can serve multiple Matic flows and business models using the same code including B2C, servicing, mortgage bridge, and other use cases.
You will work side-to-side with 2 Engineers, Product Manager, and QA Engineer, and have a direct influence on a product that helps saving money for people that are looking for Home, Auto, and Life insurance.

Matic is a software product company (here's the team). We are developing an ecosystem of products that help Americans quickly choose and buy the best insurance policy when buying a house or car, and also save money while continuing a previously purchased policy. We’ve already completed the MVP for life-insurance sale and every day we help thousands of people save money;)
In April 2020, we celebrated our 6th anniversary. Our team has 120+ people in the city, USA and Lviv, Ukraine (the entire technical team). We are proud to announce that we are at the final stage of Series B investing and have a daring plan to grow to 200 people by the end of 2020.
YOUR FUTURE AT Matic:
Day to day duties:
- Lead the team of smart engineers, help them to build a great product, coach them to become better engineers and people
- Provide continuous feedback, keep in touch using 1:1 and conduct performance reviews for your team
- Take part in the full product development cycle (define problems, prioritize features, build long-lasting architecture, refactoring)
- Work hand to hand with other teams to deliver cohesive product line across the whole company
- Actively communicate with Matic offices at Columbus and LA to get a better understanding of product needs
- Write tones of code

WHICH PROFESSIONAL SKILLS ARE IMPORTANT:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong Ruby experience
- Experience and love for writing automated tests
- Ability to transform ideas into a working product of perfect quality
- Customer and a product-oriented mindset
- Upper-Intermediate+ English speaking skills. (haven’t we mentioned that we are US startup, so we are close to our headquarter office, good English helps us to work better together)
Nice to have:
- Experience working with front-end side and with customer-faced products
- Management or mentoring experience
- Passion for quality
YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Develop a product that saves our customer’s money and time
- Choose technologies, influence the product, build architecture: the whole technical team and VP of Engineering are working in Lviv
- Work with Product Managers directly, self-tune your work and manage/influence priorities
- Work with new products: the oldest is only 1.5 years old
